Daniel Pierce was born in Watertown, New York in 1981 and grew
up in Bethlehem, NY and Pepper Pike, Ohio. Wanting to emulate
his brass-playing dad and big brothers, he began learning the
trombone at age 8. By the time he graduated high school, Dan
had gained some professional experience and was awarded the
opportunity to peform a solo concerto with the Cleveland Youth
Wind Symphony.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School
of Music with majors in trombone performance and jazz studies.
He has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, Milwaukee
Symphony, Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Gap Mangione Big Band, "The
Temptations", "The Four Tops", and as trombonist
for Cunard Cruise Lines. Dan has participated in recordings
with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble and the Dave Rivello Ensemble.
He has studied with Paul Ferguson, John Marcellus, Mark Kellogg,
and recently completed a Master of Music degree at DePaul University
as a student of Mark Fisher.
